Knock Down Flange

Knock Down Flange

Notice the lip that sticks out from the seam, this is absolutely caused by the can being lifted into the seamer chuck too late. When this can was lifted, Op 1 was already engaged as the lid and flange crashed into it, causing it to flatten in one spot before continuing the seam. This damage is very evident as it will in no way hold any pressure and begin to leak almost immediately.

Order of Operations:

  1. Check Home Position/Op 1 Start Timing and ensure your timing marks are aligned.

  2. Ensure the lifter is operating cleanly and not getting bound up during the lift.

  3. Open the needle valve for the lifter by turning counter clockwise to increase lifter speed in quarter turn increments.

  4. Check air pressure consistency to the machine by going to the trends page and toggling to "Air Trends" or "Pneumatic Trends" on newer gen fillers. If the blue line is dipping below 90 Psi for any amount of time, address air infeed issues from compressor to filler.
