Turn Tabs

Turn Tabs

Turn tabs are not a very common issue, but it's best to cover all our bases right? Turn tabs are noticed after the seaming process with cans leaving the seamer with the top tab facing a different direction than designed. This is caused by the knockout rod inside the chuck making forced contact and physically turning the tab during the seam.

Order of Operation:

  1. Using your finger, feel inside the chuck and ensure that the knockout rod has play up and down and is not stiff inside the chuck shaft.

  2. Check to see if the knockout spring is broken in some way.

  3. The knockout rod travels up through the chuck shaft and is held above with a small nylock, ensure that there is thread visible above the nut.

  4. Check to see if your lids are faulty in some way allowing the tab to spin easily.
